The Bontrager WSD Hilo tri shoe.
I just put this shoe through the ultimate test at Ironman Lake Placid and it came out with top marks!
It is light, stiff and cool. The two velcro straps secured my foot perfectly with no pressure 'hot spots' and the e-sole inner was cushioned and supportive even for my 'unique' foot! It has a full carbon sole, a grippy pull tag, a smooth inner for wear without socks and a 2 layer mesh upper which sheds moisture quickly.
A problem I have experienced in the past has been extremely sore toes after about 80 miles, in this shoe my toes felt great, they had a little wiggle room and remained pain free for the entire 112 miles. Happy feet on the bike is particularly important in an Ironman because after the ride comes a full marathon!
The WSD Hilo is rather beautiful looking too, white with matte gold accents, one of the inspirational sign on the Ironman bike course read "Fancy white Shoes Pedal Faster" I would have to agree!
